Mary Sherman was born to the union of the late John W. Jones Sr. and Annie B. White on November 30, 1939.  She was raised in Mansfield , LA  by her grandmother and grandfather, Mattie Jones and Lee Roy Jones along with her late sister and brother Ruthie Woods and John W. Jones Jr.  After graduating from Desoto High in 1958, she left Mansfield LA for the city of New Orleans where she met and married the late Willie Sherman in 1961 and to this union they had three sons, Kenneth, Kamal and Terrance, stepsons, Terry, stepdaughter Westry (Arthur) and God daughter, Darlene Cole.

Mary “Rosemary” knew and loved the Lord, she confessed Christ at an early age and remained faithful until her death.  Upon moving to New Orleans she joined The Greater St. James B.C. under the leadership of Rev. Johnson.  Then in 1987 she joined Loving Four Baptist Tabernacle under the administration of E. L.  Cooper. She became the President of the No 2 Deconess Board, where she severed for many years.  Her life really changed due to Hurricane Katrina in August 2005 where she then relocated to Dallas, Texas with her family and soon united with her sister Ruthie Woods at Christ Trinity M.B.C. where she faithfully severed until the end.

On Tuesday July 14, 2015 Mary finished her course here on earth and entered into  eternal rest of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Awaiting her in glory are her husband, parents, grandparents, her sister and brother Ruthie Woods and John W. Jones Jr. along with several aunts and uncles.

She leaves to cherish her wonderful spirit, her three sons, Kenneth Sr. (Cynthia), Kamal, and Terrance (Colleen), three Sisters, Annie Ruth (B.J.) Harris, Irma (Michael-deceased), Laverne and Brenda King; two brothers, Glenn (Andrea) Jones Sr. and Rubin Jones, brother-in-law Rev. Irvin (Julie) Blouin Sr. Her four grandchildren, Keiyana, Kenneth Jr., Kamal, and Keatora and a host of nieces, nephews   other family member and friends, her dearest friend, Imelda Lewis.

Mary touched the lives of many people and always had a kind word for them.  She always said “If you are not going to do it right, then don’t do it at all.  She had a great sense of humor as well.  If you said you were going to the shopping mall and she  would say give me a minute to get ready.  She just loved to shop, getting her nails done, working crossword puzzles and she loved watching “The Young and The Restless”, but most importantly she knew and loved the Lord.  She will be truly missed.
