Mathis Lee Choice, Sr. was born on October 1, 1923 in Laneville, Texas to Minnie Lee Pruitt.  He grew up and received his formal education from Laneville Public Schools in Laneville, Texas.

He met and married the love of his life, Ruby Jean Hightower Choice on October 10, 1947.  The were married (68) years until she was called home, March 2016. To this union (11) children were born.  He worked as a shipping and receiving Manager for Sharp Hardware for over (40) years until he retired in 1997.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was a devoted member of  Holiness Church Of God In Christ for over (50) years.  He began his Christian journey under the leadership of he late Bishop F. L. Hammock.  He remained a faithful member through the transition of leadership and also served under Elder Willars Crawford until his death in 1997.  He remained faithful in his service to God and the church under the leadership of Elder Danny Choice until his health prevented him from attending services.  He service in the capacity of a deacon his entire membership with Holiness Church of God in Christ.  He faithfully opened the church doors, cleaned the church, made sure the temperature was comfortable and closed the church at the end of each service.  He never complained.

He leaves to cherish his his beautiful memories, four sons, Elder Danny Choice(Cynthia), Dallas, Texas, John Choice(Marjorie),Dallas, Texas, Dewayne Choice, David Choice(Patricia), Lancaster, Texas; four daughters, Evelyn Crawford, Minnie Choice, Lois Miller(Willie)and Felecia Curry all of Dallas, Texas; (29) grandchildren, (35) great grandchildren, (1) great great grandchild, many other loving nieces, nephews, friends and the Holiness Church of God in Christ Church family.
