FROM THE DAY WE ARRIVIED ON THE PLANET……
On December 19, 931 Raymond Edward Cox was born to Claude and Viola Anderson Cox in Athens, Texas. He had one brother Wilbert Cox.
AND BLINKING, STEP INTO THE SUN………..
Raymond was educated in the Henderson County School District in Athens, Texas and was the first black quarterback at Fisher High School in Athens, Texas. He was a avid player of pool and dominos as those were his favorite pastimes. He was a people person who loved to talk.
THERE’S MORE TO SEE THAN CAN EVER BE SEEN……
He was a loving son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Raymond worked tirelessly for years at General Motors, he transitioned to 3525 Turtle Creek, for 23 years until his retirement in 2002.
IT’S THE CIRCLE OF LIFE AND IT MOVES US ALL….
As childhood sweethearts, Raymond courted Dora Sneed and on May 21, 1956 they were joined in holy matrimony. Their testimony of love and commitment bore nine children. Sharon, Fredrick, Danny, Claudette, Rodney, Roland, Jeffrey, Mia, and Simone. He became the grandfather of (18) and a great-grandfather of (30). They all had a special place in their Daddy’s or Gran-daddy’s heart. He loved his family dearly.
THROUGH DESPAIR AND HOPE THROUGH FAITH AND LOVE…………
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, and both sets of grandparents, brother, Wilbert Cox, Son, Jeffrey Cox, daughter, Claudette Cox.
IN THE CIRCLE OF LIFE……
Raymond departed this Life to Eternity on June 28, 2015. His life is celebrated and cherished in memory by his wife of (59) years, Dora Sneed Cox, Children; Sharon Mopping, Fred Cox (Elnora), Mia Lewis, (Irish), Simone Mickens (Reginald Jr.), Roland Cox, (Sherry), Danny Cox (Penny), Rodney Cox, eighteen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren. He had one niece, Vundalyn Henderson, many cousins, friends, and spiritual family.
